The tea

What it is

A single traditional recipe built around Jewel Vine (Derris scandens): fifteen Thai herbs, roots, spices and dried botanicals, ground to a fine powder for a fuller infusion than cut leaf. It brews a deep red-amber cup — woody and earthy, with a fresh herbaceous lift and a warm spice finish.

Sold as a herbal tea beverage. We describe it only by its taste, aroma, ingredients and origin.

The blend

The fifteen botanicals

Every ingredient is named on every pack — nothing hidden, nothing added.

Whole nutmeg, dried goji berries, cinnamon bark and dried herbs
Whole botanicals of the kind ground into the blend.

Fifteen of them, and every one is printed on the pack you receive. Below is what each brings to the cup — the woody base, the warm spice, the fresh herbaceous lift — so you know what you are tasting rather than just what it is called.

  1. 01 Jewel Vine Derris scandens A climbing botanical long used in regional Thai herbal blends
  2. 02 Vetiver An aromatic grass that lends the cup its earthy base notes
  3. 03 Thai Black Ginger Kaempferia parviflora A dark Thai rhizome traditional to herbal preparations
  4. 04 Sea Holly A herb that appears in many traditional Southeast Asian blends
  5. 05 Cardamom A fragrant pod spice bringing warm, sweet-aromatic notes
  6. 06 Cat’s Whiskers Orthosiphon aristatus A leafy herb familiar throughout Southeast Asian tea culture
  7. 07 Goji Berry A dried fruit that rounds and balances the blend
  8. 08 Saul Waeng A regional Thai botanical from the traditional recipe
  9. 09 Sandalwood An aromatic wood contributing soft, fragrant depth
  10. 10 Nutmeg A warm baking spice that deepens the finish
  11. 11 Orange Blossom A floral note lifting the darker, woodier ingredients
  12. 12 Cinnamon A sweet, warming bark spice
  13. 13 Lovage A savory herb adding depth to the body of the cup
  14. 14 Sand Ginger Kaempferia galanga An aromatic Thai rhizome related to ginger and galangal
  15. 15 Star Anise A star-shaped spice with a distinctive, lingering finish

The format

Sealed in gold foil, one cup at a time

Ground botanicals lose their aroma to air faster than cut leaf. So every single-cup portion is sealed in its own gold-foil sachet rather than sitting loose in a caddy — the pack you open on day sixty smells like the one you opened on day one.

  • One sachet, one cupNo scooping, no infuser, no guesswork about how much to use.
  • Opened only when you brew itThe rest of the pack stays sealed, so the last cup is as aromatic as the first.
  • Travels wellFlat, sealed and light — a few sachets go in a bag without a tin.
  • Every pack lists all fifteenThe full botanical list is printed on the pack itself, not just online.

Quick questions

Before you order

Is it loose tea or teabags?
Teabags. The 15 botanicals are finely ground into a powder and sealed in individual teabags — one teabag makes one cup, with no strainer or measuring needed, and the fine grind gives a fuller infusion than coarsely cut herbs.
Does it contain caffeine?
No. It is a blend of herbs, spices and flowers rather than leaf tea, so it is naturally caffeine-free.
How much is shipping?
Tracked shipping is free on orders of US$45.00 or more (conditions apply by destination), and on every 15-herb pack from 75 teabags upwards; the 25- and 50-teabag packs carry a per-pack tracked shipping charge of US$19.90 and US$14.90. EU orders ship tracked; where EU import charges apply, they are collected on delivery for the time being. We do not currently ship to Australia or New Zealand.
How long will my order take?
Orders are packed and dispatched from Thailand within 1–3 business days, and delivery typically takes 6–14 business days after dispatch. Customs processing can add time.
Can I cancel or return my order?
You can cancel within 30 days of delivery for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, provided the pack is unopened with seals intact — opened food cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. You pay the return postage for a change of mind.
